Ticket Info

We've joined up with Ticket Tailor for our new booking system.  If you are not redirected to this new system using the THEATRE BOOKINGS links on the website click here.

If you have any problems booking, or can't check to see if tickets are available, give us a ring on 0117 973 5171 and we'll sort it out directly.  Alternatively, email theatre@almatavernandtheatre.co.uk and Holly, our Theatre Manager will get back in touch!

Pre-theatre dining

If you fancy coming to watch a show, why not make a night of it and get 25% off your pre-theatre meal?!  Booking is essential.

You're welcome to take a drink up with, but please ensure you arrive 15 minutes early to ensure you can do so in good time before the performance.

Accessibility

Due to the size and location of the theatre we are unfortunately not fully accessible to those with mobility issues.  The theatre can only be reached by narrow staircases that lead on to either the stage or the back of the auditorium.  If you are interested in visiting our theatre and have and concerns please do not hesitate to get in touch with a member of the team.  Additionally, as it is such a small space we do not have a hearing induction loop in place and therefore any persons with hearing issues may not be able to hear the show.

Refunds & returns policy

Refunds are only possible with over 48 hours notice of your show date. You will then be entitled to the full ticket price, minus the non-refundable £1 per ticket admin fee.

If you let us know with less then 48 hours notice we will endeavor to resell your tickets and will be able to offer you a refund (minus the £1 admin charge) if we are able to do so.

Refunds can take up to two weeks to be processed by Stripe, or 72 hours by Paypal.

When shows have sold out online there will be a Waitlist prompt on the listing, where you can sign up to our waiting/returns list to be notified by email when any tickets become available.

Latecomers Policy

We advise arriving to the Alma for a performance 15 minutes before the show is due to start to allow you enough time to buy a drink and use the facilities.

The auditorium is very small, meaning that once a show is running any latecomers may be very disruptive to those already enjoying the performance.  While we will try to accommodate latecomers where possible, it is likely that you will not be granted access to the theatre.  If you arrive late and are not allowed in we regret that we are unable to offer refunds.

Concessions

Generally concessions, if available, are reserved for the over 60's, NHS staff and those still in education.  Sometimes concessions will be limited to only one of these groups.  If this the case the concession description  on the website will clarify who it is applicable to.

History & Visiting Artists

Opening in 1997, the Alma Theatre has gone through an almighty TWO DECADES and is oldest pub theatre in Bristol.  Converted into a perfect black box theatre with 48 in-tiered seating from what used to be two separate function rooms, it is an incredibly versatile space that has seen hundreds of productions, many of which have been world premieres. It has strong ties with most local theatre companies and is committed to championing new writing from the Bristol Theatre Scene.

Now in our 25th year, we have our own in-house Production Company, Schoolhouse Productions, which has gained a fantastic reputation for presenting classic texts, such as Mike Leigh's Abigail's Party, Ibsen's A Doll's House and Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray.  Our next project will be to relaunch Shirley Valentine later this year.

For many years Bristol favourites, Theatre West, held a seasonal residency of original writing.  We work with university society’s and amateur groups from the South-West to showcase their work as well as including some of the best touring theatre companies in our programme.  Our other connections include Bristol Old Vic, Hecate Theatre and Red Rope to name a few.  Every season we have a host of varied productions that complement the diverse nature of the city and beyond.

If you are part of a local or touring company and would like more information about booking the space please contact Holly Newton, our Theatre Manager at theatre@almatavernandtheatre.co.uk who will get back to you as soon as possible.
